Why did Inskeep ask the mayor of DC if he owned a gun?

Is anyone else offended by Inskeep's fake/scripted laughing? This morning most inappropriately while the Chinese journalist was seriously trying to make his point that Starbucks does not belong in the Forbidden City. There has not been so much fake laughing on NPR since....well since Scott Simon.

Personally, I am so offended by Inskeep that I have shut him down entirely, as I did with Simon. Inskeep is Tony Snow with fake laughter attached. It's not just an issue of these and other NPR personalities bugging little ol' me. Aside from the much more ominous NPR 'agenda' which always lurks in the background, I think it's wrong that these less-than-interesting on-air people inflict their mediocre personalities onto listeners. That's talk radio method, not what should pass as public service broadcasting.

Inskeep, Simon, Cokie, etc., ad nauseam...they've all become unintentional self-parody at this point...

I've started hearing commercial radio advertising mocking the "NPR Tone." And some of the best parody was on SNL: Schweddy Balls http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uRt_4y0wKc .

I'm glad that others are as put off by Inskeep and Simon as I am. Their delight with themselves knows few bounds.

Their laughter is the laugh of gracious self-satisfaction. I bet they tickle themselves in the studio between tapings and squirm with the deliciousness of it all.
