Yes indeed, today Stevie, 'on assignment' for ME, got an audience with Dougie (Feith). It was indeed a frolicsome romp with that eccentric, professorial grandee of living history, who just doesn't have a problem sounding like the whiny teen he still is. Dougie actually rivals his loftier and more ominous godfather Richie Perle in spouting the most elementary, unsophisticated, junior-high-quality defensive blather that I've ever heard. You can easily get a a sense of their (the Neo-Cons) MO: they simply blab their way into these positions of power, then keep the BS flowing. Of course that's part of the danger: having BS artists IN power. But that don't worry Stevie. He gets a little 'tough' with Dougie, so that Dougie gets to spew a delicate bit of school-yard-snottiness back at him, but you can detect they've both got twinkles in their eyes. You can imagine their dialog after the recorder was shut off. No doubt they had dinner together.
My name is Matthew Murrey and I'm from Florida, but have been living in the Midwest since 1984. I started this blog because no one else was blogging NPR's drift toward the right - and it made more sense than yelling at the radio.
"Q Tips" is an open thread post where you can place general comments or brief notes about NPR.
