Yesterday's ATC had a Forero story on the paramilitary death squads in Colombia. Forero put the blame on the Colombian government, but conspicuously forgot to mention a major source of fudnding for their security operations (under the umbrella of the war on drugs): the US of A. There was also a lame report on the privatization of Sallie Mae. I wonder why I didn't hear the words: asset stripping.
Yes, it was a half-step wasn't it. I was curious why Forero even covered the murder of union leaders and activists by the Columbian government/paramilitaries. But - of course - he left out the role of US advisers, money, etc.
My name is Matthew Murrey and I'm from Florida, but have been living in the Midwest since 1984. I started this blog because no one else was blogging NPR's drift toward the right - and it made more sense than yelling at the radio.
"Q Tips" is an open thread post where you can place general comments or brief notes about NPR.
