NPR just can't get the coverage of Colombia right. Although
on March 11, 2007 they got it right - very far right. It was
only two weeks ago that Juan Forero reported on the very direct ties of the Colombian government to paramilitary death squad actions, even though, as one reader pointed out, Forero failed to lay out the US complicity in
Colombian (and other) death squads. And yet today Michelle Kelemen introduces the report on Colombia's
bloody president with this upbeat jingoism:
"Uribe seems like a man on a mission, he’s determined to make his case for continued US aid to fund Colombia’s war on drugs and terrorism."
A man on a mission, Colombia's "war on drugs and terrorism." Dang!
