New disgust: Stevie Inscreep introduced a very serious report by Sylvia Poggioli - about the ground pollution in Naples - in the most frivolous tone of voice. As in, get a load of this, people: stupid dumpy Naples can't even pick up it's garbage. (Remember NYC's go around with that problem, years ago?) No doubt he was tittering while hard-working Sylvia was telling us about acute land-fill situations and cancer cases as a result of Love Canal-like conditions near that very large population center. The story stretched way beyond mere garbage pick-up. Stay tuned America: such conditions are just around the corner everywhere. Inscreep needn't worry though, NPR will always be an ivory tower.
My name is Matthew Murrey and I'm from Florida, but have been living in the Midwest since 1984. I started this blog because no one else was blogging NPR's drift toward the right - and it made more sense than yelling at the radio.
"Q Tips" is an open thread post where you can place general comments or brief notes about NPR.
