NPR Leader Out After Board Clash

This morning their lead story was *still* about the Jerusalem massacre. I very sorry for what happened, but it is not news on the second day, especially when the full force of Israeli might kills Palestian civilians every single day. For all we know, the gunman may have just been a lunatic, just as the lunatics in this country shoot up schools. A tragedy but an isolated, discreet incident. The everyday murders of Palestinians are brought about by a relentless, remorseless, systematic state machinery. For NPR to remain silent on this is obscene.

I would add to that the outrageous dual bombings in Baghdad yesterday, with their hideous, hideous consequences. Oh, and there was a bombing up in Mosul or something... Just another boring Iraqi day.

A friend of mine just talked to a vet who's done 2 tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. He was wounded and was at a VA hospital to be analyzed in case he was goldbricking so he wouldn't have to do a 4th tour. They WANT HIM TO DO A 4TH TOUR. By the way, he added, the level of warfare in Baghdad is mere child's play compared to Afghanistan - it just isn't being covered by the media, is all.

Remember: the Splurge is working.

Speaking of Afghanistan, I found ME's purported 'series' on that totally screwed-over nation to have been basically not worth the air time it occupied. It was so tepid, so 'safe', so predictably NPR-delicate, you would never know that there's one speck of grit in all of that hapless country. Everything is examined from a distance. Like Blob Siegel and his tea-time with the King 'o Jordan at some posh DC hotel. Hanging out with the fiddlers as Rome burns. Sickening, disgusting, contemptible.

Speaking of ME series, where's my dreamt-of NPR series, 'What Liberals Are Thinking'?? Huh? You know, something to balance that brilliant series on conservatives? What's WITH NPR, anyway??? Surely, surely it'll be appearing in the years to come?

Yes, the management change at the top needs further elucidation, all right. You can be sure we will be following whatever murky truth emerges.

(wrings bunny mitts in wicked glee) Hmmm, what (or who) is next???

C'mon, Rupie Moloch! NoPR's on the auction block!!! Why not just consummate the assimilation - they're practically there!

If - and when - NPR does a week-long 'What Liberals Are Thinking' investigation... who do you think they'll interview, to help us understand Liberal thought? Yes. The same people as before: Glenn Beck. Grover Norquist.

PS: I rilly, rilly don't wanna hate 'em. But it's been years of an acquired distaste.

thank god. Another negative piece on Chavez this morning. According to NPR, he must be a real monster/buffoon/idiot/thug/scumbag dictator

Thought I'd check in momentarily to announce:

I DIDN'T TURN ON THE SIMONIZER FOR ONE SECOND THIS MORNING! AND IT WASN'T THAT DIFFICULT!

I'm making progress. I can do it.

Have a great weekend.

Better than me, Port. I refuse to let them ruin my Saturday mornings beyond the first 5 minutes at the top of the hour.

Which by the way, regarding that Peiffer (sp?) guy's little riff a few morns back on the "fabulously wealthy" in Russia... WARNING - using the words "fabulously wealthy" in conjunction lumps you dreadfully in the Robin fuggin' Leach category in my estimation.

well, I was Simonized this morning. He did this interview with a young jazz singer, who was bright and buoyant and charming and authentic. And Simon came off, like he always does, like a creepy old letch. Probably had his hand on her knee the whole time.

Julie McCarthy has got to be a CIA agent.

Her pieces on NPR are so inside-the-beltway and parroting of Washington, that that may not be far off the mark.

And here we go again with the idolizing of those private school students!

Let me know what you think.
