The only thing I'll say about Gwen Thompkins' visit to a Khartoum wrestling match is: there's a position waiting for her at Fox Sports Kids Channel.

It was one of the most insipid, banal wastes of travel expenses and airtime I've heard in a long time. Truly sad...but as the Ombotsman keeps reminding us - 26 million listeners a week! Scary.

Yes, mass hypnosis is a scary prospect indeed ... except to those already hypnotized.

(thanks for the tab on yet another NoPR off-button moment I am ever so thankful to have missed)

PS: And Mickey D's used to flaunt their billions served. Still doesn't justify that it's any good.

Greetings all...attended Netroots Nation here in Austin over the weekend, and one of the best panels I attended was titled, "How the Media Learned to Bend Over Backward to Please the Right." Check out Rick Perlstein's Nixonland to put it all into perspective.

More brilliant NPR reporting on the Fannie/Freddie bailouts and other economic issues:

Yet another example of NPR's cutting edge journalism: this morning they (reluctantly) played the McCain/Viagra segment, AFTER it had already been seen/heard 90 billion times on the internet, at over a gazillion websites. Chalk up another notch in the NPR Profiles in Courage. But professionally-somber Debi Amos warns: 'And you'll be seeing it on TV, too', as some 'pro-abortion' (not her words, but her implication) organization is using it in an anti-MCCain TV spot.

Not just chucklesome, but a laff riot!

Porter, don't forget that NPR "balanced" their report on McCain's viva-Viagra moment with a segment on how "Obama has his own troubles on the abortion issue".

False equivalence, anyone?
