"Most of those killed since Saturday are thought to have been members of Hamas security forces." -- from NPR news report

Thought by whom?

Typical vacuous "NPR-speak".

"Most of those killed since Saturday are thought [by someone, somehow, somewhere] to have been members of Hamas security forces."

What utter rubbish.

This is not a news organization. It is a joke.

NPR has become pure propaganda.

It should be shut down entirely.

I can't listen to NPR while this murderous assault on Gaza continues. I get too mad and disgusted by the propaganda and spin.

It's a good thing you didn't hear Blob Siegel's quasi-badgering of the Palestinian he attempted to interrogate yesterday on All Thinktanks Concerned. But, just so The Blob wouldn't come off as too heavy-handed in letting his obviously stressed interviewee state his case, he clearly CENSURED HIMSELF (or was sloppily edited), leaving the fellow to hang at the end. This, after a lavish allowance for a erudite representative of the Israeli PM's machine, who had plenty of opportunity to state his case, which of course was the only right one to be 'considered'. NPR makes sure (as does Israel itself), that those stating the Israeli case sound more like Americans than those other 'Arab'-sounding ones. You know, those guys who throw shoes, and stuff.

NPR has learned its lesson well.

In the past, every time NPR has tried to cover the views of both sides in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, it has been accused of anti-Semitism, which, as we all know, is a very effective means of squelching dissent in this country.

When you know that certain powerful members of Congress have the wherewithal and will to shut you down if your reports have even a whiff of supporting the Palestinian perspective, you tend to tread very carefully (and err to one side)

"While you've been SLEEPING We've been watching the world" ... Heh!

Who writes this stuff? Right out of Chairman Mao's Red Book.

sounds like something Santa's elves might say.

Either way, Chairman mao or Elves, it's just dumb.

and kind scary, in a way.

I tell ya, if I were even considering sleeping and I know there was a reporter from NPR in the neighborhood, i would be worried. In fact, I'd probably not go to sleep.
