Friday Morning two
busy little spin bodies (h/t to
War on War Off )
were busy on NPR:
- Steve Inskeep: "And here's what raises the question of how Israel intends to finish the operation. The bombing was intended to stop Palestinian rocket fire into Israel and despite hundreds of bombing runs those rockets are still arriving."
- Mike Shuster: "First Israel hit military targets - buildings tunnels and bases used by the security forces of Hamas..."
If
a war crimes trial is ever held for the Israeli leadership that launched this "
operation" on "
military targets" I hope they save two seats in the docket for Shuster and Inskeep.

I have never ever been more disgusted and furious at NPR than in the past week due to its propagandistic coverage of the Gaza slaughter. But it's part and parcel of the surreal perspective of the whole of the American media. It makes me sick to my stomach, and it reminds me of the deviousness and duplicity and warped morality of the "reporting" preceeding the Iraq war.
I think the "journalism" schools at colleges and universities in America are largely responsible for the dismal state of their "discipline" (if you can even call it that).
When I was at the University (20 years ago, getting a degree in physics), the "Communications" department (which included journalism) attracted all the party animals because they knew it was an easy A.
When this is the crowd you are attracting to your department, there is no reason to expect that you will end up with anything more when they graduate.
By and large, this is the crop of "journalists" populating the media in this country. These people have no clue how to think because they never took a course that required them to do so.
I no longer listen to National Pissy Radio but accidentally tuned to it yesterday to hear that Hamas took over by "force".
These guys should do some research.

Isn't it interesting that most of intrepid National Propaganda Radio reporters do their reporting from within Israel? All they have to do to stay in Gaza is avoid being near military targets, since that's all the Israelis are hitting.
