Aside from all the front-line Neocon performances on NPR, slogging through these blocks of irreplaceable time can be among the most dreary of life's experiences. I know NPR has been busting dumbed-down butt to be constantly 'interesting', so that the audience won't tune over to Rush or Michael Weiner, but some of the tedious subjects we are assigned to listen to are as distasteful to endure as the latest Juan Forero check-in.

And I tell ya, every contribution from that withered Joanne Sil-burned-out, who covers health issues, is as depressing as waiting endlessly in a concrete-block fluorescent-lit waiting room.

No, I'm not enduring all this rubbish en masse like I used to, but the memories of it are horrible, and they keep my spiny attitude towards NPR alive.

Just a yak to blow off some steam.

PM- No kidding! Today's Morning Edition line-up was filled with tedium. However, absent today were stories about Fluffing Bush, for a change. I surmise that the NPR staff are busy gearing up for Inauguration Day. Thus, today's offering was zero meat, all potatoes. In other words, lots of "evergreen" stuff that they will repurpose across the entire network. Zzzzzzzz.

If you want to hear some real liberal jingoism today, tune into the 2nd hour of the Diane Rehm Show. I don't know who was worse to the author; Diane or the callers!

Hold the presses!!! There was almost a real news story in NYC yesterday. A plane fell in the water at 3:40pm and no one was killed (one serious[?] injury seems to be two broken legs)and the entire NPR staff has sprung into action. Everybody was pulled from whatever they were doing (fluff, cheap, starchy filler, and BS)to breathlessly inform MEchelle and MElissa that there was almost a news story this afternoon. ATC spent at least 25 minutes (I gave up counting at that point) out of the 96 minute total show to exclaim over and over that SOMETHING ALMOST HAPPENED!!!!

I'm waiting for Cokie Roberts to demand that Obama immediately declare war on geese!

Yah, I caught Popeye's abridged "tongue laving" (to quote Woody) within the top-of-the-hour headlines which constitutes my maximum exposure to National Plebocide Radiation. My first thought was "steno pool" too~

Yeah, NPR pulled several shows out of the entire afternoon line-up to dedicate to the "almost-news" coverage, even though TV beat them to the "beating-it-to-death" meylee. NPR's breaking news coverage might just be worse than fluff!

it's interesting that an Israeli newspaper has published this (Is Israel Using Illegal Weapons in Its Offensive on Gaza?, but it is doubtful you woule ever see anything like this sort of actual analysis reported on NPR (or any other mainstream American news program)
