"It wouldn't be a gathering of world leaders without a protest." - NPR trivializing popular dissent

They do love to laugh and snark.

Did anyone hear the "Talk of the Nation" sequence in which listeners were invited to tell jokes and have them critiqued by a standup comic? Each joke was followed by one of several canned "NPR host laughter" tracks. What mytwords, Porter and some others here could do with those snickering soundbites of Simon, Siegel, Liane and the other illustrious hosts...!

NPR's just jealous of people who stand up and speak out. I'm willing to imagine that there is at least ONE person in the NPR prison who longs for their outfit to speak freely and be out from under the corporate yoke. But when you're surrounded by selfish, egotistical collaborators obsessed with their own security and stardom, free speech is DOA.

(Can you imagine being a cub reporter at NPR and 'talking back' to someone like Blob Siegel??)

Miranda,

I can't believe they left Steve Inskeeps annoying laugh out of that TOTN bit. Really, a waste of radio air-time.

Well, Mlle Miranda, so many of the uNPR superstars are plainly aspiring comedians (especially that playful sermonizer, that standup guy who's the Simonizer), and they're already tasting the glory of standup, but they don't have hear what their audience REALLY thinks or how they respond. They have legions of good little sycophants to cleanse any angry email, and you can be sure that not one of them has ever had the guts to sample this here blog. Finally, I have yet to crack a smile at ANY attempt at humor that originates from an NPR superstar, so it's probably merciful that I missed the show you cite!

(To prove that I'm not a humor snob, I'm a huge (early) Martin & Lewis fan, and I howled out loud at 'How To Stuff A Wild Bikini'.)

I notice that Nationalistically Packaged Radio broke the Ted Stevens Redemption Story. Missy Blokhead was at her coy little best in noting that - well, the hell with it...

I was gonna add that Nina Tote-em-n-bag-em was her teen-sounding smugglesome best, and Missy shared in the silent giggles in how the awesome power of a Democrat AG can redeem aging Ted 'Tube-tied' Stevens, ex-Sen (Rrrrr) from Palinaska.

(Sorry for all the gimmick-talk, but it's better than one curse after another.)

Whew. How mercifully continues my boycott/disownment/ostracization.

True that, they to me were always about as funny as...

a) a screen door in a submarine
b) a fart in a spacesuit
c) a malignant tumor
d) certainly an amalgamation of all the above
