I think Inskeep is taking laughing lessons at the feet of the master (Scott Simon).

NPR teaser:"Vast new natural gas fields have opened up thanks to an advanced drilling technique. While natural gas is a cleaner burning fuel than coal or petroleum, extracting it is still hard, dirty work. Some people who live near the massive Barnett Shale gas deposit in north Texas, have complaints. Health and environmental concerns are prompting state regulators to take a closer look."

NPR attempts to rehabilitate itself by reporting the not-so-great side of the NEW natgas! Have you heard (from the ANGA and API) that natgas is NEW? Well, it is. Just ask them.

WoWo,

Nice find. I posed to the NPR comments section of the natgas story.

Also, see how another blog commentator catches an ANGA lobbyist posting to the NPR site.

I love how Shepard thinks it is her job to decide whom NPR listeners hear on the radio.

..and i especially like how she equates Rachel Maddow and Keith Olberman to Glenn beck and Rush Limbaugh

"I feel like, 'Hey you should hear what Glenn Beck has to say. Like it or not, he's influential.' "

...if Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Lou Dobbs, Sarah Palin or any other prominent conservative firebrand is making headlines, NPR should report that as part of the news -- not to promote them but to include when putting news in context.

The same goes for prominent liberals such as MSNBC's Keith Olbermann or Rachel Maddow."

The irony is that Shepard has much in common with Limbaugh and Beck.

Shepard disgusting.

At least the former ombudsman (Dvorkin) had some journalistic ethics. Shepard seems to have NONE,

NPR's Jason Beaubien must be pissed.

Zelaya is being restored to power in Honduras.

Poor biased Beaubien.

Ombot schlepturd's column was hilarious. And what a poor writer indeed! So npr actually prides itself as being just as mediocre as the rest of the M$M. THat explains alot, actually. It was very funny that in schlepturd's mind there are only two liberals in the world: KO and RM; no mention of Amy Goodman, or Noam Chomsky, or Lynne Samuels, or Glennzilla, or Juan Cole or Dean Baker...people who would expose the glaring inadequacy of the npr host.
And the comments! the comments obviously from npr staff: 'though I don't agree with glennderalla, I think it's important that he be heard', etc. What an exercise in stupid.

What got into Juan Williams' oatmeal this morning? He was remarkably fact-based in reporting that yesterday's elections revolved around local issues and people, and had nothing to do with Obama. And he was well on his way to detailing how badly Palin, Thompson, et al. had egg on their face in the NY-23 race, before he was hustled away from the mic. It was very odd, hearing him speak and yet not having my blood pressure spike.

On the Santa Monica station we got an commercial spot from Kaiser Permanente (something about doctors you know and whom you trust) followed immediately by the Rovner unveiling of the Republican health plan, replete with no new taxes and no federal funding for abortion and no help for illegal aliens and even some things in the current bill, like no generic biologics...terrific! Let's just go with that one then! Hooray for the Republicans!

Here's Jon Stewart's take on yesterday's momentous election 2009. He does a swell job at pointing up the shallowness of the MSM coverage.
