It would certainly appear that the propensity to perpetrate propaganda on the public is not unique to NPR.

Something is Rotten at PBS

The whole "Public" broadcasting system should be gutted, at least at the national level.

It has nothing to do wit the public any more and everything to do with propaganda.

Stoked up by her own power-ego, Coked-up Roberts can gaze over her airwaves with supreme confidence. Having floated to the top of NPR's fauning prestige (pretty much by default so as to fill a mediocre vacuum), she can pretty much say what she wants and have the plantation peasants genuflect to her assertive wisdom.

Too bad old Murdoch has had a bad year. PBS and NPR could be picked up for pennies a serving.

One of the most disgusting things about NPR is their overriding mandate to sound smarter and cooler than every last one of the people and events that they're covering are. As in, 'we're so cool, we've got everything figured out, and we're on top of everything, so we'll deign to share a little bit of our genius with all those little people out in the Homeland, who aspire to be like us, but never will be, so here, get down on your knees and take what's coming to you...' The mediocre audacity that they convey is of course, stunning. 'Smug' isn't a powerful enough word. More like, toxic, acidic, Ebola-devouring smug. And then there's the fake modesty they toy with. There are so many aspects to their f@#*ed-up formulas that one just has to resort to generalities, otherwise it gets too frustrating and wasteful. And we've all got better stuff to do, don't we?

I can yak like this because I've been free of Numbingly Prurient Radio for some time now. I just catch a couple headline recitations by blandly drawling Jack Speeeeer, and then ditch it before Blob purses his lips with bemusement, MeeShill puts on her super-cool negligee, and Missy Blocked-Up prepares to put mayonnaise frosting on her bon-bon 'mot' cutesy-tootsie droolings. (I DID hear she's gonna party down in old Chengdu to celebrate the first anniversary of 'her' earthquake. Good God, why doesn't she leave those poor people in peace! That's all they need, some National Pest Radio twit, posing as a compassionate journo, poking around for 'stories'.)

Me? I just saw once more a hilarious Don Knotts film, 'The Love God?' from 1969. It says more about the corruption of the media and its manipulation than a hundred David Folkenfekkinflukkinflique colonoscopies could!

Some Colinoscopies are far more informative.

I never even got an acknowledgment back from the NPROmbud about the complaint I sent requesting that they identify Wan Williams as a Faux Noise commentator and occasional compatriot/consort with Bill O'Reilly when introducing him to pundit or comment or "report" on NPR.

I am shocked. I was very polite. Obsequious, cuz I know that's how NPR likes its postulants...

All,

Two public broadcasting interviews worth watching/listening to:

Glenn Greenwald and Amy Goodman on Bill Moyers Journal.

Matt Taibbi on Democracy Now, with Amy Goodman.

postulant : a candidate for admission to a religious order in the stage preliminary to the novitiate, aka optimal candidate for lobotomy.

So here's a personal story about single payer. Last week I attended a meeting of my union and the options for renegotiating health care benefits came up: complicated options involving "tiers" and "copayments" and various arcana - so I say at one points, a bit facetiously, "Why don't we just go to single-payer?" "What's single payer?" was the response. My jaw dropped. My colleagues need to have a graduate degree to be hire: these are people who have no right to be so ignorant, and yet...

Haha, gopol - that's what happens when your nose doesn't stray beyond industry-approved trade pubs... and of course Not (very) Precocious Radio.

Media propaganda ?? You better believe it...in the late 60' early 70's we (myself included) had millions of people in the streets fighting for social justice,,,,"THEY" don't want to see THAT again....in those days we were well-informed,...now America is dumb as a rock by design.
