It used to take some time before the filthy calumniations of fringe voices in the right-wing media oozed into the mainstream press; a protracted sewage treatment process was sometimes used to muffle some of the fouler vapors so that the stuff had the smell of an actual news story once it flowed into prime time. Nowadays, courtesy of media outlets like NPR, a pipeline has been set up to speed the reeking slime from the sewer to high-toned news sources in a matter of days. Case in point: today's ATC piece on Obama's extremely tangential relationship to former members of the Weather Underground. On April 15, Sean Hannity and Steve Malzberg suggest to George Stephanopoulos that he ask Obama about his connection to William Ayers. The next day Stephanopoulos, nice trained poodle that he is, asks the question. A couple of days later ATC's resident poodle Michelle Norris is coolly informing us that the Weather Underground has "returned to presidential politics," as if the Ayers story were a piece of poop that just happened to float of its own accord into public view instead of being lobbed there by right-wing character assassins. Then comes Peter Overby's report, which to its credit identifies the pestilential source of the Weathermen story and attempts to do some fact-checking on Hillary's hardly more palatable attempts to use it to her own advantage. But what does it matter how balanced and critical the piece is? The Hannitys and Malzbergs who shape our discourse have achieved their objective. The vile excrement they peddle has been laundered into a "legitimate" news story thanks to stenographers of shit like NPR. And so a piece about 40-year-old lawbreaking that has only the most flimsiest, gossamer-thin connection to Obama takes the place of stories we ought to be hearing about the untrammeled criminality and lawlessness of our president and his administration.

Yes, and if we're revisiting the Vietnam war where a bombs caused a "few people to die" - why can't we hear about "hero" McCain and the several million that he and his band of brothers blasted into oblivion? T

Thus does the fecal matter hit the ventilation system. One of nature's miracles is that human waste products are naturally offensive in order that they will not be ingested again. It is thus highly unnatural (and naturally repugnant) that American tastes have veered so thoroughly into the scatological. A sure sign of a civilization's decline.

Juan Forero let us know about corruption in the Chavez government (and family) tonight.

How evil must the Venezuelan government be that NPR only reports negatively on Venezuela and Chavez? I mean, literally. LITERALLY, every single report that NPR news has ever done on Venezuela's government has been cartoonishly critical, biased, bizarrely scathing and/or propagandistic in nature.

ie: did we hear about this on NPR?

of course not. Because Chavez is EEEEEVVVVILLL and the ENEMY of everything good and just... and America, also.

NPR told me so. Every time they report on Venezuela, they've told me so.
