After all that happened this last week or two, NPR said this AM that Arlen Spector is a Republican. What other network makes glaring errors regarding party affiliations? It ain't CBS, NBC, ABC, MSNBC or CNN...

yeah, I know that Spector is more opportunist than Dem, but darn it, a mistake like this has to be deliberate...like they always are on Fox.

Plus, we were treated to yet another Cokie "I know more than any of you" chuckle this AM, gag me.

So as not to be thought to be ONLY a carping critic, I herewith offer a sterling example of what npr does best: Dung Beetles!

That's why WHYY runs 10 days of fundraising. That's why they are blathering on at 12 midnight. People are catching on.

Me? I got no money to send to NPR but I am going to contribute money to my local library.

Whenever I used to hear MeeShill Norris doing a limp promo for NPR News (and what NPR promo ISN'T limp?), and she'd end with the Luntzian phrase, 'It's your world', I'd always shout out: 'Yeah, and YOU'RE NOT PART OF IT!!'

Thanks for that link to the Jack Shafer article, also given in the last Q-Tips. He's really got it in for teh cokester! Shafer used to appear every once in a while on npr, did they have a falling out? If Shafer is no longer an npr guest, did the boggsian witch or her demon spawn have anything to do with it?

I loved Shafer's Ambien reference.

Weren't the drone attacks supposed to be the core of the Obama plan to rid pakistan of terrorists once and for all?
The straw that broke the Taliban's back in Pakistan?

Weren't these the same drone attacks that NPR was all gaga over a few short weeks ago?

Well, they backfired (surprise, suprise) and the top adviser to the US army chief in Afghanistan, David Kilcullen recommends calling them off.

Call off the drones!
call off the drones!

of course, absolutely no one could have foreseen this -- except, of course the host of this site MTW and anyone else with a brain. The latter (people with brains) seem to be in short supply at the White House these days.

Wow...here's some crazy psy-ops:

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=103787285

Alix Spiegel has an innocent schoolgirl's cutesy curious wet voice that makes you want to rub your knuckle in her nookie. Her cadence sets into quiet, dignified relief the careful modulated and thoughtful tones of psyops torturer and patriotic American, Bryce Lefever to avenge the breaking and entering of America's house by evil arabs by "exposure treatments" that will actually help heal the evil arabs. It's not torture, it's therapy!

He's friendly man that will tell America the story it wants to hear: that America is a good country with good intentions that is unjustly vilified by liberal media - never mind that screaming in the basement.

AAAIIIIIIYYEEEEEEEE! AAARRRRGGGGGHHHAAAAAAAACCKKKKKK!

RE Torture pyschologists (mitchell and Jensnen)

Their "expertise" was probably "misrepresented" (according to the CIA)

If some NPR reporter really wants to hitch his or her caboose to these two, I'd say "be my guest"

Most people with a clue are running as far away as they can.

If anyone takes the fall for the torture operation, it will be Mitchell and Jensen.

The CIA is now taking a great deal of heat for the (run amok?) activities of these two and I'd bet that there are a lot of career professionals who are none too pleased and who would be very happy to see them take a fall.

"Waterboarding, Interrogations: The CIA's $1,000 a Day Specialists
New Focus on Two Retired Military Psychologists Called the 'Architects' of the CIA's Techniques
http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/Story?id=7471217&page=2

According to ABC news
"it turns out neither Mitchell nor Jessen had any experience in conducting actual interrogations before the CIA hired them.

"They went to two individuals who had no interrogation experience," said Col. Kleinman. "They are not interrogators."

The new documents show the CIA later came to learn that the two psychologists' waterboarding "expertise" was probably "misrepresented" and thus, there was no reason to believe it was "medically safe" or effective.

The irony of npr feting Pete Seeger. Of course I'm happy any time to hear ol' Pete. But Pete is the guy who refused to bend knee to McCarthy. Now if npr only had a little of his spine and refused to bend knee to aipac and the organizational (NOT monolithic) American Jewish Israeli position.

"Roberts has had a good, long run on NPR. It's time for her to surrender those Monday minutes to someone new with verve and bite. Do you suppose her old dog is still around?

Or, she could start a new NPR show called Coasting With Cokie. "

-- Jack Shafer, Slate
or she could start a new NPR show called "Cooking cookies with cocky Cokie"

I put up a little chart that shows how NPR juxtaposed their two stories on ATC on "harsh interrogation techniques" just for fun.
