I almost made an hour into WE today, before smarmy Scottie introduced Fox News commentator Wan Williams to discuss the 'duelling speeches,' yesterday.

Can soomeone reliably inform me when was the last time that really senior members (cheney was at least co-president) of the previous 'administration' arose so quickly and so aggressively to attack the policies of their replacements?

Obama's basically a one-termer, selected to be the scapegoat for the last 8 years of chaos and clusterfucks. Even recognizing that, doesn't it strike you as a BIT excessive--slightly over the top, perhaps--to have the former "power inside the sock" out in public bad-mouthing the new guys?

"Obama's basically a one-termer, selected to be the scapegoat"

Obama had a choice.

He could have made a clean break from the past.

Instead, on every issue -- bank bailouts, illegal domestic spying, bombing in Afghanistan and Pakistan and the rest -- Obama has effectively continued the policies of the Bush administration.

And even on the issues where he has supposedly discontinued Bush policy (torture), he has given Cheney, Bush and pals a "get out of jail free card"

Obama gets what he deserves, in my opinion.

He's no scapegoat.

He made his bed, now he has to LIE in it.

God knows he excels at that: LYING.

He fashions himself as some sort of latter day Lincoln out to save the Union.

In reality, he's just another arrogant politician. He actually reminds me a lot of Britain's Tony Blair.

Clueless both of them.

NPR make a big deal when other countries like Iran hold journalists but says NOT a word when the US does (see below)

NPR has become little more than a Pentagon whore.

I don't know how any self-respecting journalist could continue to work for that organization.

"U.S holds journalist without charges in Iraq;"By Liz Sly

Ibrahim Jassam, a cameraman and photographer for the Reuters news agency, is being held by the U.S. without charges.
"Ibrahim Jassam is the latest journalist the U.S. has arrested but not charged. A journalists advocacy group says such actions hurt U.S. standing when it speaks for press freedom and rule of law."

Yes, my NPR segued over to the classical station after the first few smarmy wah wahs from Yawn. I find this group has helped cure me of my need to listen to these jerkoffs jerk off. Why be outraged by state funded propaganda when Tosca is a few band widths down the dial?

Wow, I thought I'd hear something on tomorrow's ME broadcast (Meshill, is a broad, in the broad sense of the word) how it has been learned that new Af-Pak Capo di tutti capi

General McChrystal comes from a world where killing by any means is the norm and a blanket of secrecy provides the necessary protection. For five years he commanded the Pentagon's super-secret Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), which, among other things, ran what Seymour Hersh has described as an "executive assassination wing" out of Vice President Cheney's office. (Cheney just returned the favor by giving the newly appointed general a ringing endorsement: "I think you'd be hard put to find anyone better than Stan McChrystal.")

Wow, I may be amazed to hear such honest reporting about what the people need to know about their government and its military exploids...or not. More likely not, huh? Perhaps the Garrels would have an unhappy spouse.
